Those dudes ARE so cool and chill, aren’t they?

Outside Missing Link Records

Outside Missing Link Records

Recently Seattle’s Light in the Attic label stopped by our own Missing Link Records as part of their Road Trip. Our first stop was Missing Link Records.

“This place was new, small, and fantastic! These dudes were so cool and chill,  it really just felt like we were hanging out with old friends from childhood. They were super excited for our arrival, and went through our records like crazy. They pulled out a little bit of everything, and started listening to it right there and then. They had this mirror that they made that was a sasquatch but without his face. If you lined your face up correctly, you became sasquatchified! So undoubtedly we all participated in that.”

Click on the link for the whole scoop, including their stop at the Works in Eureka.

Refresher #2: The Blakes – \”Don\’t Bother Me\”

Needless to say, we’re very, very excited!

Lila Nelson is oh, so pretty… vacant!

Acclaimed singer songwriter Lila Nelson will make an appearance at Arcata Photo Studios (APS) Friday during Arts!Arcata from 6 to 9 p.m.

Nelson will perform several songs from her latest release Letter Home as well as – if we’re all really, really lucky – at least one Sex Pistols cover. Also, recent portraits of Nelson in and around Arcata will be on display.

The event is also an opportunity to meet – in between songs – APS photographers Martin Swett, Sheldon Sabbatini and Terrence McNally as well as S&S Events coordinator Taffy Stockton. If you’re nice and are over-21, they may give you a glass of wine.

APS is located on the Plaza Level of Jacoby’s Storehouse.

For a more traditional taste of Lila, check out “American Miracle” from Letter Home: american_miracle1

The Savage Eye, Nov. 25, 2008 – Love and hate, Arcata-style

Ukesperience is the kind of band you wish you could take home and have as your very own house band. Imagine, some gentle ukelele music awakens you, the drums come in during pancake-making, the guys sing you out the door to work, then back in when you arrive home, bucking your spirits with a rousing tune and glass of Nob Hill while the kids settle down with their homework. Wouldn’t that be lovely? At the least, it would make a fine reality show.

Jeff DeMark served up his own entertaining reality show, with Ukesperience backing, at Muddy’s Hot Cup Saturday night. Read the rest of this entry »
