Strix Vega: Western U.S. Tour 2009

March 11th – Eugene, OR We start our tour off in good spirits coming off of our CD release show at The Alibi. Seeing so many friends and fans who have been supporting us over the years come out and celebrate another milestone in our tenure as a band makes us feel ready to bring our music to many cities we’ve never been before. KHUM in-studios: The Bee Eaters, ALO

KHUM 104.3 FM midday guy Mike Dronkers hosts The Bee Eaters Friday at 11 a.m.

Former Rubbernecker, current Svelte Velvet drummer and solo artist Greg Lojko is bringing Tashina and Tristan Clarridge’s band The Bee Eaters to the Arcata Playhouse that night. Tickets are $10 HFS members, $12 general and are available at Wildwood Music and at the door.

KHUM weekend man Michael Moore welcomes ALO on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. They play the Van Duzer that night. Tickets are $20 general, $15 HSU students, 18-and-over only.

Live in the KHUM studio: Flatiron String Band

Colin Vance has the Flatiron String band live on KHUM’s Chicken Scratch at 8:30 p.m. this Monday. Tune into 104.3 FM to hear! The band plays at Muddy’s on Tuesday, Jan. 20, along with The Striped Pig String Band.

CenterArts regretfully announces the cancellation of Bobby McFerrin this Friday, January 9 at 8 p.m. in the Van Duzer Theatre, HSU. Due to Bobby coming down with strep throat we are forced to cancel his performance on campus this Friday. The Savage Eye, Nov. 25, 2008 – Love and hate, Arcata-style

Ukesperience is the kind of band you wish you could take home and have as your very own house band. Imagine, some gentle ukelele music awakens you, the drums come in during pancake-making, the guys sing you out the door to work, then back in when you arrive home, bucking your spirits with a rousing tune and glass of Nob Hill while the kids settle down with their homework. Wouldn’t that be lovely? At the least, it would make a fine reality show.
