KHUM in-studios: The Bee Eaters, ALO

KHUM 104.3 FM midday guy Mike Dronkers hosts The Bee Eaters Friday at 11 a.m.

Former Rubbernecker, current Svelte Velvet drummer and solo artist Greg Lojko is bringing Tashina and Tristan Clarridge’s band The Bee Eaters to the Arcata Playhouse that night. Tickets are $10 HFS members, $12 general and are available at Wildwood Music and at the door.

KHUM weekend man Michael Moore welcomes ALO on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. They play the Van Duzer that night. Tickets are $20 general, $15 HSU students, 18-and-over only.

At long last, Mason Jennings comes to town Nov. 11

So there I was, shivering in a KHUM production room at 8:32 a.m., leaning over a microphone. On the opposite side of the mic sat a speakerphone. The computer captured the back-and-forth of the interview. My nervousness is apparent on the recording, both from the multiple times I rehearsed my introduction prior to receiving the phone call – and from the reverential “oh my god” audible after the hang up click.

Where There’s Smoke, a full-length documentary film shot in HD video that follows the lives and careers of California’s wildland fire fighters.

8 p.m. in the Van Duzer. Assuming there’s power.
