Arcata Eye Scene

A-town art, music, theatre. Mostly music. Updated Wednesdays.

Sorrow, yes. We’re still working on accepting it as “sweet”

Lila Nelson, High Gloss, Low Sheen

Lila Nelson, "High Gloss, Low Sheen"

Andy Warhol had Debbie Harry; Arcata had Lila Nelson. “Had,” because Nelson and husband Ian Caliendo embark on a new chapter in their lives this weekend, a chapter set in the Bay Area. We hope to continue following the Adventures of Lila & Ian and that the Big City doesn’t change our heroes, but brings them ever greater success. We’ll miss Lila’s charm, wit, voice and sounds – thankfully, we own all her CDs, the better to assuage our loneliness with. (You, too, can purchase a bit of Lila via Say goodbye (and “Happy Birthday” to Ian), Thursday night at the Jambalaya.
